Mountain View Singles by Pat Snelgrove
The
Stuarts Draft Club welcomed some long time pitchers that we
haven’t seen for a while. Hearl Kelly from Buena Vista came
to play, Kevin Bowman from Palmyra, Branson Miller from
Wincherster and Mark Bunch from Madison Heights. We also
welcomed a BRAND NEW Cadet – Parker Dean. He had just
turned 7 the week before, and had “practiced a little”.
His grandpa – Larry Morris brought him.
Hearl,
Kevin and Branson combined with our “regulars”, Randall,
Glenn & George made up a VERY interesting A Class.
As the day wore on, it became obvious that the “regulars”
kept on their game better than the other guys. Entry
percentage didn’t matter, wins/losses did, and the regulars
took the top three places in the class by the end of the
day!!
B Class ended with a 3 way play off between
Jerry Colyer, Chuck Hansen & Ronny Altizer. Chuck & Ronny
played first, with Chuck topping Ronny 40-18. But he was
losing steam. By the time he faced Jerry, he could
only muster 12 points to Jerry’s 40 onslaught.
C
Class also had a play off between Larry Morris and Herman
McCarthy. It was a six player class. In the second round,
Horace Phillips gave Herman a loss in a very close game.
In the last round, Herman won over Larry (40-23) and
they both only had 1 loss up until then. This set up
the playoff. To win, Herman had to beat Larry again. Either
Larry was on fire or Herman ran out of energy... either way,
Larry won that game 41-13.
In D Class, Eddie
Gregory only earned one loss for the day, taking the class
for 1st place.
E Class winner Richard Horvath
showed is stuff by finishing 6-0, a full 5.55% over his
entering stat. One of his opponents – the brand new cadet
Parker Dean walked up to the table at the end of the rounds
saying “I didn’t win any games” and pouting a little bit.
The Stuarts Draft Club was ready for this- and gave him a
trophy for his very first tournament – he was amazed!!
He took home a trophy!! For his very first tournament!!
We hope we see Parker and all the other folks back on our
courts soon.
