2015 VIRGINIA STATE DOUBLES TOURNAMENT The 2015 Virginia State Doubles Horseshoe tournament was a great success after a reschedule date. The original date was June 27, 2015. Due to the inclement weather it was reschedule for Sunday, June 28, 2015. The change date did not affect many pitching. We had 19 teams that participate in the tournament and four classes. The weather on Sunday was great, it was about 75 degree and overcast sky great weather for pitching horseshoes.
The 2015 State Doubles Champion was Glenn Barlow and George Maitland. They finished undefeated with a 4-0 record. Glenn finished the tournament with a 68.55% and George finished with a 53.23%. Ronald and Charlie Walker finished second place and a team average of 49.25%. Class-B Champion went to Kevin Bowman and Randall Weakley. They went undefeated with a 4-0 record and finished a team record of 48.33%. Betty and Granville Weakley finished second place with a 3-1 record and a team 39.17%. Class-C Champion was Gail Walker and Herman McCarthy. They were undefeated with a 5-0 record and a team finished average of 38.28%. Second place went to James Hartman and Larry Morris with a team average of 29.11%. Class-D Champion was Dean Campbell and Donald Carver. They went undefeated with a 4-0 record and a team average of 27.92%. Second place went to Jack Abrams and Larry Huff with a team average of 23.11%. As you see all the team classes champion went undefeated which was outstanding pitching. Last year State Doubles Champion was Ronald and Charlie Walker.
